I was talking with my boss about this the other day. I use Chat-GPT all the time to do the dirty work of research for me. I ask it a question, it searches the internet, parses results, and presents me with information I could never get from a search engine. I haven’t used Google in years. I usually use startpage.com for my searches but more and more, I find myself turning to Chat-GPT for tasks I used to do with startpage.
Chat-GPT and similar tools are taking over and eventaally, most people who use Google now will be using an AI tool instead. Nothing would make me happier than to see Google go the way of Yahoo. Google made an AI tool of its own but nobody’s using it. They won’t go away completely, but Google will be a shell of its former self as the advertising revenue dries up.
I’ve always held disdain for the practice of short-selliing stocks. Google might be a great target for just such an operation. We’ll see!
